Blender is a 3D modeling and animation package for Linux.

It supports the modeling of polygon meshes, curves, NURBS, text, and metaballs, as well as animation with keyframes, motion curves, morphing, and inverse kinematics (IK).

It also features particle systems, deformation lattices and skeletons, and a 3D view with animated rotoscoping.

Other notable features include field rendering, several lighting modes, animation motion paths, animation curves, and vertex keyframing for morphing.

Blender can read and write Targa, JPEG, Iris, SGI movie, and Amiga IFF formats, and can read Inventor files.

Blender includes proprietary source code and is not covered under an open source, free license.

Version 2.11 features soft shadows, a post effect menu, Voodoo3 compatibility, and Python import/export.
